Grappenhall Heys Forest School is taught weekly in nursery and reception class and in targeted sessions in KS1 and KS2.
Activities vary across year groups and include construction and artwork using critical and creative thinking; working together to solve problems (e.g. den building); safe risk taking (e.g. working with tools and fire) and reflecting on our own and others' work to improve our approach and outcome (peer review and reflection). The pupils explore these skills to develop confidence and apply them to their classroom learning.
Outdoor learning takes place across all year groups and our sessions are teacher-led with support from one of our teaching assistants, who is a Level 3 Forest School Leader. Activities take place in Heys Wood, which on the school site and has been developed to support cross-curricular learning and the Forest Schools ethos.
