Year 6 Mock Trials

Year 6 had a brilliant time today, taking part in mock trials. We set up the classroom like a magistrates court and the children took on the roles of usher, magistrates, defendant, victim, witnesses, prosecutor, defence lawyer and legal assistant. They held trials on criminal damage, theft and possession of a bladed article. Not only did we have a great time, but we also learnt a lot about the magistrates court and the British criminal justice system! All the children received certificates and medals for their great participation.
A huge thanks to local magistrates Jean, Andy and Geoff who led our sessions today.
