Our School Council and School Safety Officers

Our School Council members are voted for by their peers. Each year, we allow two new school councillors from each class (Year 1 -6) to be elected. The school council aim to meet at least once a month with Mr. Franklin to discuss action plans, new ideas and other matters. The School Council is very much pupil led. Our Year 6 pupils take the minutes of each of our meetings, and the conversations, ideas and inspiration is taken from them. School councillors are also given a book to keep with them in their classrooms, where they can then record any ideas or share feedback with their classes.

15/1/2023- We met to rehearse our assembly which we presented to the whole school on Monday 21st January. We explained the new bins and compost bins, the display, welly storage, our suggestions box, action teams and plans for the rest of the year. We hope to arrange some fundraising/ sponsor events during Spring 2.

3/2/2023- On the back of feedback from our assembly, Action Team forms have been returned, and we already have a large number of volunteers who wish to litter pick, plant, and also make use of the club house. The School Council met with Eco Team and Miss Corridine to discuss a Litter Picker rota for the school. We aim to get this up and running for the start of Spring 2. Mr. Franklin will share the rest of the Action Team forms/ ideas at the next meeting. We also discussed the renewal/ promotion of the Energy Monitor for each class. Finally, we discussed a 'Book and Toy Drive' which we will try to arrange for the end of Spring 2. This will involve us being more sustainable by reusing old books/ toys, as well as stocking some of our library shelves with new material. Well done Eco Team/ School Council!

Our next steps are to begin thinking about a bigger project for funding further OPAL equipment (see previous meeting notes). The children wish to purchase larger adventure playground equipment, including monkey bars and pull up/ gym bars. We are eagerly awaiting our Foodbank contact for further outreach work with them.
