myHappymind

Grappenhall Heys Community Primary School is committed to prioritising and supporting the positive mental health and wellbeing of our pupils, our staff and our families.

The video above is a welcome from the founder of myHappymind and gives a short explanation of the importance of developing strategies from a very young age to promote positive mental health, resilience and self-esteem.

Since the introduction of this scheme, we have seen a huge difference in the awareness and understanding the children have around their mental health and the mental health and wellbeing of others. We are passionate about delivering a curriculum which empowers children to identify and use what the have learnt in myHappymind sessions to identify and regulate their feelings.

"We have always prioritised pupil wellbeing at Grappenhall Heys and it has always been central to everything that we do but myHappymind has taken our offer to the next level. It has provided us with a whole school approach to supporting mental health proactively, developing a framework of common language and a progression of positive mental health strategies to support our children. myHappymind has raised the profile of emotional wellbeing across school and is a golden thread through our curriculum which empowers our children to develop higher self esteem, show resilience and be the best versions of themselves. " Mrs Jackson

All of our pupils, from Nursery to Year Six, participate in a weekly myHappymind session. This is usually delivered at the start of the school week so that the thinking, strategies and foci can be implemented by children across the school week. Pupils will work through several units of learning.

myHappymind - At Home

Our parents and families are instrumental in supporting their children's mental health. So that we can promote and apply the same strategies at home as in school, we have shared the myHappymind app with our parents. This enables the language, module foci and approaches to be mirrored at home and further embeds our teaching and learning.

In addition, parents can read in depth on the origins and thinking behind this educational approach in the founder's book, myHappymind.
