We set our children challenges to allow them to show their citizenship skills and understanding of our school values and British Values.

 

 

 

Autumn 2024 Challenge

 

A​rley Christmas Tree Festival.

Theme: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
W​e invite all pupils to make Eco Christmas tree decorations to adorn our tree at the Arley Hall Tree Festival.

All decorations should be bought into school by Monday 25th November. Feel free to go wild, just remember to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs Clark in the school office.



 

 

 

 
 

Spring 2024 Challenge - Our Grappenhall Heys Family

This half term we are focussing on how love comes in all different shapes and sizes. We are asking you to submit a piece of art to describe your family and celebrate what is special about YOU! We will be using these creations to make a Grappenhall Heys Family display for our corridor.

 

P​lease send your entries to Miss Corradine in EYFS by the end of Spring Term (Easter holidays).

I​ cannot wait to see your creations!

 

 



Autumn 2023 Challenge - Cut Your Carbon

This half term we are focussing on CARE FOR OUR WORLD. We are teaming up with Eco Schools to take part in the November "Cut Your Carbon" Challenge.

You could:
  • M​ake a sustainable journey
  • P​lan a meat-free meal
  • E​at all of your left-overs
  • T​urn your heating down
  • P​lan a flight-free holiday
  • S​ay "No" to new - choose second hand items over new
  • D​onate items you no longer need
  • H​ave a shower instead of a bath
  • S​hare your carbon saving tips with others!

A big well done to...Olivia, our Autumn Citizenship Award Winner.

 

A big well done to...Olivia - your dedication to the "Cut Your Carbon Challenge" was inspiring. Olivia submitted an entry for every single aspect of the challenge and shared her tips in an informative way. The Eco Team decided the winner this Term and were incredibly impressed!

 

 

 

S​ummer 2 2023 Challenge - Learn a New Skill

Well done to the following children who submitted their 'Learn a new skill challange':

Alice W (Y2), Edward S (Y1), Archie A (RL), Eddie K (Y4) and Mattie G (Y3)

 

The aim for this half term is to build confidence as you perform the skill, resilience as it may take a lot of time and patience and self reflection as you will need to analyse how well learning the skill has gone.

Learning a new skill is a rewarding way to increase your knowledge and find enjoyment.

You could:

  • Learn a new language
  • Learn to play an instrument
  • Learn a skill linked to a particular sport
  • Learn a cooking skill
  • Learn to draw

…. the list is endless and completely up to you!

Over the next half term, you will need to practice this new skill.

You will need gather evidence over the whole term and email pictures and/or videos of you performing your new skill at the end of the term. It would be great if you could also include an explanation of what you did throughout the whole month and why you chose this skill.

S​ummer 1 2023 Challenge - Kindness

For this half term, we are focusing on the value of KINDNESS - the quality of being friendly, generous and considerate.

Your task is to complete the Kindness Bingo sheet handed out in school, can you get a line, two lines or maybe you can get a full house?

Create a collage of pictures of all the random acts of kindness you complete and send to citizenshipaward@grappenhallheys.co.uk. Closing date for entries is Monday 22nd May 2023.

Grappenhall Heys Wildlife/Nature Photographer of the Year!

S​pring 2 2023 Challlenge - Creative Arts

For this CREATIVE challenge, children will be using and developing their photography skills.

It is time to head outdoors and take a picture to become Grappenhall Heys Wildlife/Nature Photographer of the Year!

All our entries will be judged and every entry will receive a Spring 2 Citizenship Certificate.

We will announce the winning entry at our Celebration Assembly on the last day of term.

Nature photography is a term used to cover all types of outdoor photography from birds and other animals, to plants and landscapes. As the seasons changes from Winter to Spring this half term, there will be plenty of wonderful opportunities to capture nature.

End of Challenge Update

S​pring 1 2023 Challenge - Event Planning

Become an amazing EVENT PLANNER for your family.

This could be: a trip to the park; a trip to the cinema; a trip to the seaside; a family night; a movie night; a games night; a party; a karaoke/dance evening. The choice is yours!

For this challenge you will be using your organisation and budgeting skills.

End of Challenge Update

It was fantastic to see all the great events that children planned for themselves and their families. The children were able to use lots of great life skills such as organisation, budgeting, cooking and time management. There was a huge range of fun activities planned such as cinema nights, games nights, days out, birthday parties and pizza parties.
