Euclid Telescope

During Autumn term,Year 4, 5 and 6 took part in an online STEM workshop all about exploring the dark universe with the Euclid space telescope. What great fun and knowledge gained about galaxies and space.

Electron Microscope

Year 5 and 6 had a wonderful and unique opportunity to get hands-on experience of using an electron microscope worth £100,000. Thank you Mr Dixon for making this an interesting experience, inspiring many of our children.

Science Competition

As part of STEM week, we launched a school community Glider Challenge with a link to the British Science Week theme of Connections. All families were invited to work together at home to design and make a glider. In school each class held their own mini competition where 2 finalists were put through to the whole school final competition.

The overall winners are in our Year 4 class - well done boys!

Curriculum Enrichment...

As part of our pedagogy for science learning, our children from EYFS to Year 6 are inspired by the world of science and technology. Through engaging with visitors from our local community and our professionals in our parent community, they share with us their work in the world of science. For example Chester Zoo, a local owl sanctuary, Daresbury Laboratory scientists, vet, pediatrician, computer scientist, paramedic to name a few inspirational role models.

Our Engaging Curriculum...

Year 4 and Year 6 embarked on an online session learning about Space Junk and why we should care.

What the children said...

Year 1 and 2 had Fizz Pop Science come into school to enrich their knowledge and support knowing more and remembering more in their materials unit of work (October 2021).

"The paper disappeared but not in her pocket, it was like magic," (Year 2 child).

"We mixed materials together...it did a big bang but not as big as we wanted!" (Year 1 child).

All year groups from EYFS to Year 6 engage in learning with professionals as well as in our school grounds and local community through developing our knowledge and working scientifically - developing our five enquiry based knowledge. Here are some examples of outcomes:
